The new Ford Focus RS is getting ready to make its debut in Europe this April and reports indicate the next-gen hatchback will be equipped with a mild-hybrid powertrain.
The news comes from the Dutch publication Auto International that also reveals the new Focus will be 50 mm longer than the current model. The overall weight of the new Ford Focus will also be 110 lbs lighter depending on the version. Moreover, the report also states the front dash will be upgraded with improved technological features including a high-end touch screen infotainment display.
The most important piece of information the Dutch site states is regarding the range-topping Ford Focus RS. It says the Focus RS will be equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system paired with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo engine that will develop a combined 400 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of peak torque. The six-speed automatic transmission will remain the same as the current Ford Focus model. With the hybrid powertrain, the new Ford Focus RS will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just four seconds.
Ford is expected to debut the new Focus RS this year at the Paris Auto Show.
