Exclusive photos of the BMW iX3 have been posted online, showing the soon to be released crossover undergoing testing in the harsh cold weather. The iX3 will be one of the many all-electric crossovers releases in the upcoming years by BMW. The company has bought exclusive rights for every nameplate starting from iX1 all the way to iX9. The automaker will likely produce a vehicle for every existing crossover/SUV segment, from a small electric crossover to a three-row fully electric SUV.

Reports suggest the BMW iX3 will likely share similar characteristics with the gasoline powered engine variant, the BMW X3. A sizeable battery pack is seen, in the leaked pictures, jutting out from below, fitted to the floor of the vehicle. A single charge of this huge battery will power the two electric motors, mounted on each axle, for 200 miles. A charging port exists just behind the front-wheel on the left side of the SUV.

The iX3 will probably arrive by 2020 or 2021 as the second-vehicle of BMW’s electric vehicle initiative, following it the company will release 12 electric vehicles by 2025. The first vehicle in this range will be on sale next year as the Mini electric.
