The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is set to be Volkswagen’s flagship product, replacing the CC. It was released for the US market at the Chicago Auto Show, this year. The Arteon, which is already on sale in Europe, is based on the new global architecture by VW, which brings new and improved design ideas on the table. It is hard to say what body-type the Arteon really has. The car’s designer terms it as a sedan, Volkswagen’s North America CEO says it is a 4-door-coupe and MotorTrend bets it is a hatchback.
The vehicle is a step above the rest of VW lineup, competing with the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback. Hinrich Woebecken, North American CEO says, the Arteon is a “global pinnacle” and the future of Volkswagen’s vision and it will act as a catalyst to give a new direction to the Volkswagen brand.
Hiding under the hood of the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, sending power to either the front wheels or all four wheels with 268 hp and 258lb-ft of torque while being mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Adaptive dampers are installed to provide a smooth effortless drive around sharp corners and turns.
Pinned by VW’s MQB platform, the vehicle has a 5-inch longer wheelbase than the CC at 111.9 inches long. Increased length and width also make it come on par with the Audi A5. The 18-inch standard or the optional 19-inch rim option gives the Arteon that premium looks it hopes to achieve.
Inside the cabin, the owner will find heated vinyl seats which can be upgraded with Nappa leather seats with heating, cooling and massaging options. The technology inside the car follows the latest trends, with an 8-inch infotainment system, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, together with numerous in-car applications.
Moreover, it has an impactful Dynaudio sound system, an extensive sunroof, and the state-of-the-art power trunk which opens easily with a slight nudge of your foot.
The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon will be released in three variations: SE, SEL and SEL Premium. Pricing and further details about the car will be quoted near its entry to the North American market. We do not have any news when it will be available in the UAE. Stay tuned for updates!
