McLaren has revealed teasing details of its main attraction at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, the McLaren Senna, on Wednesday. The hypercar is fittingly named after Aryton Senna, who outperformed others to win the F1 World Championship title 3 times driving a McLaren.
McLaren has already released basic details about the supercar, such as its engine and performance specs. The Senna will host a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine good for 789 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The company has shared performance figures with the public which portray the hypercar’s abilities. The acceleration from 0 to 62 mph will take a mere 2.8 seconds, while 0-124 mph would require 6.8 seconds, which is good enough to take the car to its top speed of 211 mph. If drag-racing is your cup of tea, the Senna will surely suit you, as it takes just 9.9 seconds to finish a quarter-mile. Other than that, the vehicle is a RWD helped by a 7-speed automatic transmission, which can easily be shifted to manual mode and driven using the carbon-fiber paddle shift.
The 2,641-pound car with an aggressive design is fitted with a carbon-fiber chassis which confidently graces the race-track, where its impressive aerodynamics give it 1,700 pounds of downforce to allow swift and accurate maneuverability.
McLaren will also introduce its new ProActive Chassis Control system, dubbed the RaceActive Chassis Control II, next month. Double wishbones suspension, both at the front and back, connected via hydraulics with adaptive dampers that have functionality left to right and front to back, allow the Senna to adjust its suspension automatically. Engineers at McLaren have made a compound that improves braking, sharpens steering response, boosts longitudinal performance and creates an unwavering response from the front and rear axles.
Only 500 units of McLaren Senna will be hand-built at the McLaren headquarters in Woking, England. The pre-booked hypercar will come in an array of color schemes, such as Stealth Cosmos black, Trophy Kyanos blue, Trophy Mira orange, Vision Pure white and Vision Victory grey.
