Taking their first step toward a greener and environment friendly UAE, under the UAE Vision 2021 initiative, Arabia Taxi has added 50 new Toyota Prius to their fleet. Al-Futtaim Motors, Toyota’s official distributor here, announced the delivery of the 50 hybrid cars on February 5 in a ceremony in Ajman, making Arabia Taxi the first to employ Prius cars in their UAE fleet.
Senior representatives from the respective companies attended the auspicious ceremony including H.E Eng. Omar Ahmed Bin Omair, General Director of Ajman Public Transport Corporation, Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota, PSM Habibulla Khan, Chairman and Managing Director of Arabia Holdings, as well as other officials.
Saud Abbasi said, “Our journey with Arabia Taxi began back in 2005, and throughout these past 13 years, Toyota has proven to be a trusted mobility partner for the many values it offers, including quality, durability reliability, comfort, excellent Total Cost of Ownership and best resale value. It is estimated that each of our Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicles saves around 7.65 tons of CO2 based on 850,000km of operation, the approximate “shelf life” of a taxi car in the UAE. Arabia Taxi shares mutual environmental objectives with Al-Futtaim Toyota to make the UAE a greener place”
The Prius is Toyota’s front-line hybrid car. It was launched 21 years ago and its success is resounding. The competition in the HEV segment has become fierce over the years as new entrants made way into the market. Toyota has not stepped back and came back strongly with its new generation Prius built on Toyota’s new approach, the New Global Architecture (TNGA), which was developed keeping in mind environmental issues and economical driving experience.
