McLaren’s latest project under the McLaren Special Operation (MSO) wing, termed MSO X, is a custom-made sports car mirroring the infamous 570S GT4, excluding a few race-track utilities to make the race car street-legal. MSO usually produces 1 or 2 bespoke cars, however, this time with the MSO X there will be 10 limited edition cars based on the livery of McLaren F1 GTR of the 1990’s.
Basically, it’s a stripped down, track-ready version of the 570S and includes a pylon-mounted rear wing that adds downforce of roughly 220 pounds, a carbon-fiber roof snorkel, front dive planes, titanium exhaust, Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires to grip the road, and a newly redesigned hood with air intakes. Carbon fiber is used extensively on the roof, bonnet, side skirts, and the engine cover.
Cabin-wise the MSO X receives a pair of bucket seats with a regular and racing seat-belt. Keeping the image of a track-oriented street-legal car, a fire extinguisher has been provided along with air conditioning, a rear-view camera, and parking sensors.
Unfortunately, McLaren hasn’t quoted a price for the MSO X and all 10 cars have been delivered to their owners via McLaren Newport Beach, in an event in Las Vegas.
