Last year, the SCG owner James Glickenhaus hinted at a reboot of their recently bought Baja Boot. About a week ago, SCG confirmed on their Facebook page that a redesigned and a modified version of the original utility vehicle is in the works.
The Baja Boot is the brainchild of Vic Hickey, who created only two such off-road vehicles. James bought one of the two trucks in an auction in 2010 and now hopes to improve it. The initial design shared on the SCG Facebook page is not necessarily attractive, but the vehicle still looks cool for a competitive off-roading buggy. The vehicle’s design will be a cross between Baja and Dakar racer. SCG also plans to make a Volcano Assault version that they hope will able to set a world record by climbing 22,615-foot (6,893-meter) to the summit of Ojos del Salado, a famous volcano in Chile.
The Baja Boot will have a 2-door version called the ‘Steve’ and a 4-door version. What’s more is that the Boot will come with a center driving position and will be street-legal. Current plans suggest the off-roader will take power from a 5.0-liter V8, however, this could change by the time the Boot actually starts being manufactured. The manufacturers have decided to fit the truck with automatic transmission sighting a loss in demand for manual transmission. About other specifications of the trucks, the manufacturers are tight-lipped as they are still deciding on the best combination
The off-road buggy is expected to be on sale in 2019 or 2020 wearing a price tag of $100,000.
