Volkswagen recently held a meeting with its suppliers where the automaker revealed some important information regarding the upcoming 2020 Volkswagen Golf.
The next-gen 2020 Volkswagen Golf will be the eighth-generation model that will be showcased next year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It will be called the Golf MK8 and the automaker is investing $2.2 billion on its development. The production will take place at the company’s plant in Wolfsburg, Germany in June 2019.
The official word suggests that the 2020 Volkswagen Golf will feature a self-driving technology, a digital cockpit, state-of-the-art assistance systems, and latest connectivity and safety amenities.
It will ride on the current Golf’s MQB platform and the engine and transmission options will be the same as the current VW Golf. However, the exterior design will be revised for a sportier persona. Reports indicate the 2020 Volkswagen Golf might resemble the VW Golf GTE Sports Concept which was displayed at the 2015 Wörthersee Tour.
Talking about the trim levels, we believe the diesel version might get replaced with a new electric model. However, the Golf GTI and Golf R models will still be offered boasting better performance and extra engine output. The pricing details are currently unknown.
