Genovation introduced their electric powered Corvette sports car dubbed as ‘GXE’ in the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show earlier this January. This Genovation GXE sports car is based on the latest Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and can be distinguished by a unique front bumper and round taillights.
Life is given to the car using a 61.6 kWh battery pack powering two electric motors that force the rear wheels to move with 597 kilowatts of power, thus expelling a whopping 800 horsepower and 949NM of torque. The car can reach a top speed of 220 mph with 0-60 mph in under 3.0 seconds and can run for a good 175 miles before its batteries require their next recharge. The Genovation GXE sports car is fitted with a standard dual clutch paddle shift automatic transmission, however, for manual drive lovers, the company will provide an optional 7-speed transmission.
Inside, there is a large custom touch screen allowing the driver to control functions like the sound system, HVAC, driving modes and even day track data. Mobile apps are being developed to allow remote access to charging and for HVAC activation, thus enabling the car to be temperature controlled to optimize the driving range.
The company plans to sell 75 units of the sports car with an enormous price tag of $750,000 plus the price of the original Corvette. The Genovation GXE sports car will roll out on streets by 2019. Other than this one, the only available option in this all-electric sports car category is the Rimac Concept One which is even more expensive at $1 Million.
