The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has made its debut recently at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and besides cosmetic upgrades, the popular compact SUV has received a new turbocharged engine as well.

Up front, the new 2019 Cherokee has ditched the narrow headlights and replaced them with bi-LED projector lights encased in a larger frame looking similar to those found in other Jeep models. The hood has been restyled as well and is made of lightweight aluminum.

At the back, the rear bumper has been revised too and a hands-free power-operated liftgate has been added which is made from composite materials and can be opened just by waving leg under the sensor. Moreover, the cargo space has been increased and is now more than 27 cubic feet.

Under the hood, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee will carry a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine whereas a 3.2-liter V6 unit with 271 horsepower will also be available. But the bigger news is that the automaker has added a new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which can generate 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque.

The interior has been enhanced with new equipment such as UConnect infotainment system available with a 7.0-inch and an 8.4-inch touch display with Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality.
