The 2018 BMW M5 has created two world records for drifting and made it look fun and easy. The two records include “greatest distance vehicle drift in 8 hours” and “longest twin vehicle drift (water-assisted).” The first record is made by BMW driving instructor Johan Schwartz by constantly drifting the new M5 for eight hours and 232.5 miles around a skid pad. By doing this, he broke his old record by 143 miles which he first set in 2013.
The other record (1 hour/49.25 miles) was set in the process as the drift was continuous with no stopping for fueling. And that’s an exciting part as BMW set up a car-to-car refueling system with another M5 go side by side for refueling, same as we see in fighter jets.
The luxury sports 2018 BMW M5 featuring all-wheel-drive and active locking differential has the capability to be driving solely on the rear axle. The sports sedan houses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
