The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk seems serious about the first generation Tesla Roadster’s space launch in 2018. In his recent tweets, he announced the launch of Falcon Heavy Rocket from SpaceX and the intention to send the Roadster into space as his payload for the test flight. He even posted seven images on Instagram that projected his determination and confirmation about the ambitious project of launching a vehicle in space.

According to Musk, sending something different and creative with a human touch into space is exciting and thrilling compared to the concrete and steel simulators. The Roadster will stay in the Mars orbit for almost 1 billion years and play Space Oddity by David Bowie until it runs out of power.

This is obviously dependent on the assumption that the vehicle won’t explode in space once it’s triggered for the journey to Mars. The heavy-lift Falcon Heavy Rocket is reusable and has been specifically designed to take colossal payloads into space with the aim to provide Mars travel services for humans. Its debut and Tesla Roadster Space Launch is scheduled for January 2018.
