Vehicle registration and licensing fee have become slightly expensive for people living across the country. The government had implemented a new federal law on December 1st, revising the fees for almost all vehicle-related services.
Fees for driving licenses and license plates have also been increased. According to Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai, the law has been addressed to improve security and traffic regulations.
According to the new fee structure, a light vehicle first-time registration will cost Dh400, while renewal can be done for Dh350. Additionally, registration for medium and heavy vehicles will cost Dh500, and Dh900 respectively. The renewals will be done for Dh400 and Dh800 for medium and heavy vehicles respectively.
Those with an international license had to pay Dh400 plus a Dh20 additional fee for the complete transfer. However, they now have to pay Dh600 for license conversion, Dh200 (plus Dh20 additional fee) for opening a traffic file, and Dh50 for the handbook manual.
Similarly, the vehicle testing fee has been revised to Dh150 from Dh120.
Inspection of a simple accident now costs Dh500, and a technical vehicle test costs Dh350. The expense for other major and minor services has been increased as well. For complete details, check the image below:
