The Abu Dhabi Police have begun issuing permanent vehicle registration cards from the beginning of this month. Vehicle owners are required to swap their old card with the new permanent card. The renewal can be done online now.
The conversion process is only a one time hassle since the card itself has no expiry date, however permanent vehicle ownership will only be confirmed by technical inspections and safety procedures. New vehicles are exempted from this since they do not need technical examination for the first three years.
Abu Dhabi Police will forward an SMS to remind motorists of their registration card’s renewal. They will have one month to renew their card. The expiration date can be received through Abu Dhabi Police smart application.
According to the General Director of Abu Dhabi Police, the change will lead to efficient customer services and modernization as per international standards. He also urged customers to use the Abu Dhabi Police app for better customer support.
