Four decades back, GMC introduced the original GMC Desert Fox Pickup and the Jimmy Desert Fox SUV, which was certainly a hidden off-roading gem launched by the automaker. Now, fast forward to 2017, the automaker has revealed the new GMC Desert Fox Sierra concept to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary.

The GMC Desert Fox Sierra concept was showcased at the Dubai Motor Show alongside the original 1979 Desert Fox Jimmy with the same exterior color and off-road design. The GMC Desert Fox Sierra concept is based on the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 and adopts a number of styling cues from the original model. For example, the exterior body paint and the bulky tires.

For an unparalleled off-roading performance, the GMC Desert Fox Sierra boasts a desert-tuned suspension and custom full under-body armor. Other notable features include flared fenders, a bed-mounted sports bar which is fitted with LED jacklights, upgraded front and rear bumpers, front-mounted winch, custom skid plates, and a performance exhaust system.

GMC did not reveal any information regarding the powertrain but we speculate it will be powered with a 5.3-liter V8 engine producing 355 horsepower. No plans have been announced for the launch of the GMC Desert Fox Sierra concept.
