Car thefts are common in all parts of the world and Sharjah is no different. However, there are certain steps which if followed can reduce the chances of car thefts and break-ins. Sharjah Police has started an awareness campaign dubbed as ‘Security and Safety’ to thwart stealing of items like money, mobile phones, credit cards and so on.

Sharjah Police has recently noted a number of complaints from Buhairah police station’s jurisdiction including Al Nahda, Al Buhairah, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Al Taawun and Al Mamzar.

To cater to this situation, Police has started this campaign. Colonel Arif Bin Hudeib, director of the media and public relations department of Sharjah Police told us that the operation comprises of circulating leaflets and information packs in Arabic and English to drivers.

How to prevent car thefts and break-ins

  1. Do not leave the car with engine working, even for a few moments

  3. It is wise not to park the car in dark areas overnight
  4. Try not to park in remote areas for a long duration
  5. Never leave any item like laptops, mobile phones and other loots exposed in the vehicle
