The replacement for the McLaren P1 has been in works for quite some time and it seems the extreme supercar is about to arrive soon. Dubbed as the McLaren P15, the supercar will be officially unveiled “exactly one minute past midnight” on December 10.

Reports indicate the McLaren P15 will not use a hybrid powertrain as found in the P1. Instead it will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine developing 789 horsepower. A similar unit was also found in the McLaren 720S.

Recently a 675LT production car has been spotted testing at Nurburgring and it is believed to be a test mule for the P15. The prototype was equipped with a large intake on the front nose for better airflow and a large rear wing as well for improved aerodynamic efficiency.

The McLaren P15 will be built around the Monocage II one-piece carbon fiber tub. On the inside, it will have race-inspired seats, and the overall weight of the car will be around 1,300 Kg, which is a lot less than the P1 weighing 1,547 Kg.

The automaker is reported to build 500 examples of the McLaren P15 and each unit will cost approximately £840,000 for UK customers.
