For years we waited for a car that could beat the Guinness World Record for the World’s Fastest Car made by Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (265.9 mph). Many attempts were made and the best of all was 270.49 mph achieved by Hennessey Venom GT. However, that attempt was unofficial as the supercar didn’t complete the two-way run. Finally, we have a new winner! The Koenigsegg Agera RS completed a two-way average of 277.9 mph, which is 12 mph quicker than the record holder Veyron, tweeted by the automaker.
The automaker first closed an 11 mile stretch of Nevada highway between Las Vegas and Pahrump and then made the attempt. Rumors have it that the supercar achieved a top speed of 291 mph earlier. If that was true, we believe that was the speed in one direction. For the record, we need to take average top speed of the two runs in opposite directions to justify the wind speed and traction.
