Hennessey Performance Engineering has finally unveiled the long-awaited Hennessey Venom F5, the successor of Venom GT at the 2017 SEMA Show with lots of bells and whistles. The Bugatti and Koenigsegg rival claimed to have a 1,600 horsepower engine which can attain a top speed of 301 mph (484 km/h).
The Hennessey Venom F5 is a better car than Venom GT in a lot of ways. It will feature a twin-turbocharged 7.4-liter General Motors LS-based V8 engine creating about 1,600 hp and 1,300 lb-ft of torque. The engine will either be mated to seven-speed single clutch automatic or six-speed manual. The performance figures in ‘VMAX’ mode include 0-186 mph (300 km/h) in 10 seconds and 249 mph (400 km/h) in 20 seconds.
The good things about the Hennessey Venom F5 are its own carbon-fiber monocoque and aerodynamic design. Inside, it will boast carbon fiber dash trim, leather and Alcantara upholstery, and an iPad.
Only 24 units will be built costing around $1.6 million. Would that be the fastest car in the world, only the time will tell. The 301 mph claim can’t be verified until Hennessey could find tires that can endure this whopping speed. For now, the automaker is looking to achieve the feat with Michelin tires. If unsuccessful, they plan to produce their own tires and achieve the world’s fastest car title.
We believe, this supercar from Hennessey will be able to beat the Veyron Super Sport record. Why? It already did with Venom GT (the F5 is a lot better car than its predecessor), but could not register in the Guinness World Record Book because it could not make two runs in opposite directions.
