The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Sharjah has completed work on a major road directing to the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) building in the busy Muwaileh region to ease Sharjah traffic.

The road is part of a big development consisting of various paths that head to the same location, told Sheikha Al Zuwein, the contract manager at RTA Sharjah. “The construction and development works of the 2.9km long road stood at Dh12.2 million.”

Al Zuwein emphasized, “The road, consisting of two lanes in each direction for a distance of 159m, shall connect the main entrance of the Authority premises with the adjacent Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.”

The project also included the development of a 340m path for decreasing speed and a 290m isolated path for escalating speed, she revealed. These extra paths comprise of two tracks each, she clarified. “Each of these is 7.3m wide and 1.2km long, with asphalt road shoulders; 1 meter wide each in both directions.”

These are other than vehicle parking locations, 180 square meters in area, besides the outer wall of the building, Al Zuwein explained.

The road is constructed on the orders of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, she added. “The road development, done as per the highest international standards, will boost the entire road network of the emirate and ease Sharjah traffic, for the public’s benefit.”
