A few days back we posted a teaser video of the upcoming Polestar hybrid sports car and now it has finally been launched. Dubbed as Polestar 1, the hybrid sports coupe is the first-ever standalone car by the company.

The Polestar 1 hybrid sports coupe is inspired from the Volvo S90 sedan and also rides on the same Volvo Scalable platform. It adopts a number of advanced technologies such as the new Ohlin continuously controlled electronic suspension system. The shock absorbers on the suspension monitor the road condition and are capable of immediately changing the ride’s characteristic accordingly. The driver can also optimize the suspension system from within the car according to their requirement.

The body is made of carbon fiber, which keeps the weight as low as possible to improve the aerodynamics. Powering the Polestar 1 is a gasoline-hybrid powertrain, which delivers 600 horsepower and 730 pounds-feet of torque.

Reports suggest the Polestar 1’s all-electric range stands at 150 km/ 90 miles which is the highest on any hybrid currently available in the market.

It will be built at the company’s manufacturing center in Chengdu, China, which is currently under construction. However, Polestar has already started taking orders for the hybrid sports car.
