The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has recently been caught camouflaged test driving. The official word suggests the new Jetta will make its public debut at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show. Before the unveiling, let’s talk about what we know about it so far.
So far, we know that the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will no longer use the PQ35 platform, instead, it will adopt the new Volkswagen Group MQB platform which is also present in the new Golf. In terms of design, the 2019 Jetta will look similar to the current model with some changes on the front grille, headlights, and taillights. On the inside, the front dash is expected to be similar to the new VW Golf.
Talking about the new Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen North America CEO Hinrich Woebcken mentioned that the Jetta will have a “super modern” and an “emotional design” but did not disclose any more info.
The Powertrains will most likely include a 1.5-liter turbocharged in-line four-cylinder unit and a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine borrowed from the Golf range.
The production for the North American market will take place at the company’s plant in Puebla Mexico. No details are currently known regarding the price.
Once launched, the new VW Jetta will rival against the likes of Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruz and Hyundai Elantra.
