In a major turn of the events, Prince Khalid Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz directed to form a committee for advice on women driving in Saudi Arabia. The decision though would take a month to finalize, but it didn’t stop Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US to talk about the faith of GCC women license holders traveling to the neighboring country.

He said women drivers from GCC nations would be able to drive to Saudi Arabia after the decree is implemented in June 2018.

“I think our leadership understands our society is ready,” he said. The decision is made as part of Saudi’s economic reforms and has nothing to do with the social norms.

Once implemented, Saudi women will be able to apply for a license without getting approval from their legal guardians and they will no more need a protector in the car while driving.
