In order to support its green city initiative, Dubai police inducted Peugeot iOn e-car to patrol around the Dubai Airport. Though not a supercar by any mean, the e-cars have been added for their quiet engine and zero-emissions. Dubai Police didn’t reveal how many e-cars they have included in the patrolling fleet.
The Peugeot iOn e-car houses a 47-kilowatt (64bhp) electric motor that takes power from a 16 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack to create 140lb ft of torque. The amount of torque gives it a quick boost to even defeat normal patrol and diesel cars. It can sprint from 18-35mph in just 3.5s, while the single charge can give 93 miles range.
Just recently, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) received 50 Tesla electric cars for the limo fleet of Dubai Taxi Corporation. Earlier, they signed a contract to obtain 554 hybrid cars to encourage Dubai’s green city initiative.
