On Sunday, the Director of Vehicles and Drivers’ licensing department at Sharjah police, Colonel Ali Bualzod said that the police will initiate an online-only car issuance and renewal of vehicle registration at the licensing service centers under the Ministry of Interior (MOI) orders from 1st October.
The police added that the renewal of vehicle registration at the licensing centers will stop from November 7 and on 1st October, the centers will accommodate only the requests made through online application via Ministry of Interior’s website. According to Bualzod, “The new service works if a vehicle has an up-to-date test certificate and insurance”. He further added, “Vehicles not older than three years from the date of registration are exempt from providing a test certificate”.
The service is introduced to facilitate motorists by permitting them to complete their car registration renewal at any time and anywhere through the MOI app. The app would let them complete their online registration form, make payment and then the documents would be sent to them within the next 48 hours through courier service.
The motorists will also be able to renew their lost or damaged cards online. The drivers and vehicles licensing department has been encouraging motorists to take advantage of this service.
