The German automaker has been a star of the Frankfurt Motor Show with a number of impressive vehicles on display including the Project One hypercar, Smart Vision electric hatchback, X-Class pickup, updated S-Class and the new Mercedes GLC F-Cell SUV, which is a hydrogen powered version of the existing GLC in the market.
The GLC F-Cell features a 13.8-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery, which can be charged either through a wall socket or from a charging station. The hydrogen tank has a capacity of about 9.7 pounds of hydrogen enabling the GLC F-Cell to travel up to 270 miles, whereas the electric range is just 30 miles.
The electric motors deliver 197 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque with the top speed limited at 99 mph.
The interior is almost identical to the standard GLC with some additional facilities. The cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster while the front dash boasts a 10.25-inch infotainment display. The controller knob for the infotainment has been replaced with a multifunction touchpad with handwriting recognition.
The automaker has not yet mentioned anything regarding the price of the GLC F-Cell, but told us the production model may not arrive until late 2019.
