The Frankfurt Motor Show was kicked off yesterday, 11th September, however, the most anticipated car of the show, Mercedes-AMG Project One was officially unveiled just a night before and it definitely is a masterpiece as was anticipated.
The Project One hypercar packs a heavily upgraded turbocharged 1.6L V6 gasoline engine that is same used by the W08 racecar driven by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. The engine is mated to a pair of electric motors and the whole hybrid system generates a total output of 1,000 horsepower, while the top speed stands at 350 km/h.
Talking about the Mercedes-AMG Project One, Mercedes chairman Dieter Zetsche mentioned that it will make all other performance vehicles by Mercedes and AMG look ‘small’. In terms of performance, the Project One will be capable of hitting 0 to 124 mph in just 6.0 seconds.
The sophisticated lithium-ion battery that powers the electric motors is mounted on the front floor structure and is believed to provide an electric range of 16 miles on the front-wheel drive E-Mode.
The production of the Mercedes-AMG Project One will be limited to just 275 units with each model costing around 2.27 million euros (approximately $2.73 million). The first deliveries will begin in late 2018.
