In anticipation of 350,000 visitors per day for Eid ul Adha, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has formulated a traffic plan on Eid ul Adha that will be implemented from Thursday. The plan aims to alleviate traffic congestion during holidays, especially in Downtown Dubai.

In order to increase the use of public transport, the Dubai Metro Red Line Stations will be running from 5:30 AM to 2:00 AM on August 31, 10:00 AM to 2:00 AM on September 1, 5:50 AM to 2:00 AM on September 2 and 5:30 AM to 2:00 AM on September 3.

The Green Line Stations will be operational from 5:50 AM to 2:00 AM on August 31, 10:00 AM to 2:00 AM on September 1 and 5:50 AM to 2:00 AM on September 2 and 3.

An estimated 30 directional signals will also be put up to direct traffic near Burj Khalifa. To ensure smooth flow of traffic, vehicles traveling on Oud Metha Street through Al Asayel Street, Zabeel Bridges through Happiness Street and through the streets of Business Bay to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road will be diverted.

Traffic signals at the Financial Center Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be watched to guarantee a continuous flow of traffic.

The number of pickup and drop off stops for buses and taxis at the Dubai Mall will also rise in the new traffic plan on Eid ul Adha. There will be 5% more taxis in comparison to the last Eid to ease congestion during rush hours. This was the last year’s plan.
