From September 1, senior Dubai residents aged 65 and above will be required to undergo a medical examination for the renewal of their driving license at hospitals and clinics approved by the Road and Transport Authority.

An online link will be available to the approved hospitals and clinics allowing them to access the online licensing system, so that they can judge applicants for licensing renewal. The hospitals will assess applicants for any diseases that can hinder driving smoothly and putting lives of road users in danger.

Jamal Assada, the Director of Drivers Licensing at RTA, added licenses issued to senior Dubai residents will expire after 3 years, instead of 10. The renewal can be applied through RTA’s call center (8009090), website (www.rta.ae) and RTA smart apps.

This initiative aims to attain the highest level of traffic safety for motorists and other road users.
