Henry Fisker claimed sometime back that they are developing a new eMotion electric car, that will compete against Tesla and will be powered by a new Graphene battery. Unfortunately, the automaker won’t be able to do that and the eMotion will be equipped with the regular lithium-ion battery cells. Why? Let’s find out:
Henry Fisker was working in collaboration with Nanotech Energy where latter was responsible for developing the advanced graphene battery system. Unfortunately, Nanotech Energy backed off, as it found difficult to cope up with other projects on its schedule.
The Graphene batteries would have definitely proved revolutionary for Henry Fisker, as they promise longer driving range and require very less time for recharging. Nevertheless, Henry Fisker still claims that the eMotion electric car will offer 400 miles range even without the graphene batteries.
The automaker told us that the battery cells for eMotion electric will come from the South Korean chemical company, LG Chem. Henry Fisker also mentioned that they are currently working on a solid state battery technology. The automaker will reveal more info about it in the time to come.
As for the eMotion electric car, it is expected to launch sometime next year carrying a price tag of $129,000. Customers can pre-order the car from Henry’s website.
