FIAT Chrysler Automobiles recently met with some of the selected Jeep dealers to discuss about the next-generation Jeep Wrangler. Although the meeting was supposedly private, yet the folks at JL Wrangler Forums managed to get some information such as the powertrain details as well as the reveal date of the next-generation Jeep Wrangler.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be officially showcased this November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and would hit the dealerships in December. It will be offered in two engine options including a 2.0L in-line 4 cylinder turbocharged unit developing up to 300 horsepower. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system. The other engine will be a 3.6L V6 mated to either a manual or an automatic transmission producing 285 horsepower.
Another 3.0L V6 turbocharged diesel engine will be added in 2019. We had also spotted a diesel engine equipped Wrangler a few weeks back being tested on the roads.
The peeps at JL Wrangler Forums also confirm that the new Wrangler will feature a hardtop roof with power sliding function. We first saw reports regarding this type of hardtop-roof back in 2014, and it seems we will finally see it in the next-generation Jeep Wrangler. More details will be uncovered as the official reveal date gets closer.
