Infiniti has decided to drop its plans for introducing the Infiniti QX70 for 2018 model year, as they think of focusing on other crossovers in the lineup. The current model debuted at 2016 New York Auto Show.
Sources suggest Infiniti will shift its attention toward the QX50 and QX80 and would launch the redesigned versions of the crossovers within the next 12 months. Both the crossovers are expected to feature a revised exterior design as well as new interior amenities.
As for the Infiniti QX70, reports indicate that a redesigned model might come sometime in 2021 or 2022. Moreover, the new QX70 will probably ditch the current rear-drive platform and use a front-wheel drive platform, which is also found in some Nissan crossovers such as Murano and Pathfinder.
The current 2017 Infiniti QX70 comes in four trim levels namely – Excellence, Luxury, Elite Sport and Luxury Sport. The base model is equipped with a 3.7L MPI engine, which delivers 329 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line Luxury Sport model is powered by a 5.0L MPI engine with 390 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The price starts from AED 150,000 and goes up to AED 269,000 for upper grades.
