As the new Federal Traffic Law came into effect on July 1, Dubai Police saw a sharp decline in traffic fines. To be precise 59,777 traffic fines were reported in the first seven days of July compared to 94,964 fines (35,187 fewer ) in the previous week (last week of June 2017). It’s all about changing the driving behavior of motorists through programs like ‘We Are All Policemen’. As a part of this program, Dubai Police asks you to report road bullies on 901 non-emergency number.
Whenever you find someone tailgating or overtaking you dangerously, you can pull off and report the road bullies.
“If someone is tailgating your car or overtakes you in a dangerous way, then you can go to the side of the road and call police on the 901 non-emergency number. We have cameras on most of the roads and we can check if the offence happened or not,” said Col Al Bannai.
Yesterday, we also reported that the new traffic law has also changed the way you carry you kids in your vehicle. Yes, you must have a child seat installed in the backseat. Moreover, everyone in the rear seats must buckle up, otherwise, you will face Dh400 fine for each person not buckled up.
To report traffic violations, you must register at Dubai Police’s website first and then report by calling at 8007777, 8004353, 901 or email at mail@dubaipolice.gov.ae
