BMW announced its plans to launch the 2018 BMW M8 GTE earlier in May, when it showcased the prototype of the M8 road car. And now teaser sketches of the 2018 BMW M8 GTE have been revealed giving us a slight hint regarding the design of the race car.
With the launch of 2018 BMW M8 GTE, the automaker will enter the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar in 2018. It means it will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and compete against the likes of Aston Martin Vantage, Chevrolet Corvette, Ferrari 488, Porsche 911, and the Ford GT.
The teaser photos also came from the M8 GTE’s test conducted at Lausitzring in Germany last week where the race car was test-driven for three days by BMW DTM drivers, Martin Tomczyk and Maxime Martin. Regarding the vehicle’s design, BMW Motorsport Director Jens stated that the company cannot disclose any photos yet, but promises that the M8 GTE will look spectacular.
More test drives will be conducted in the coming months at different locations including North America. The official debut is expected to take place sometime later this year.
