In the wake of the new traffic regulations, car windows tinting rule has also been updated in the UAE for the convenience of motorists. Considering the high temperatures in the country, Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Assistant Commander-in Chief for Operational Affairs at Dubai Police and Director of the Federal Traffic Council has allowed 50% car windows tinting abolishing 30% previous rule.

Please note that the car windows tinting rule applies on all vehicles excluding trucks and taxis. Moreover, the rental company vehicles are also permitted to use 50% tinting on windows. Tinting is never allowed on the front windshield.

High percentage of windows tinting would allow vehicles to dissipate heat and elevate the air conditioner’s efficacy.

Previously, there was Dh1,500 fine for motorists using more than 30% tinting on their vehicle windows.
