The first model by Hyundai’s new performance division, the 2018 Hyundai i30 N is finally here and is ready to go head to head against some of the mainstream performance-oriented hatchbacks in the market. We previously also revealed its teaser video.
The 2018 Hyundai i30 N is available in two versions; the standard version carries a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine churning out 246 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque (353 Nm). With an available ‘Performance Package’, the power output can be increased to 271 horsepower. It will be capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62 mph) in just 6.4 seconds. The Performance Package improves the 0 – 100 km/h rating by 0.3 seconds. The top speed of the i30 N is 250 km/h (155 mph). These performance details are alarming for some rivals such as the Golf GTI generating 220 horsepower and Ford Focus ST delivering 252 hp.
Power will be delivered to the front-wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission system. Besides a robust engine, the i30 N also sports optimized suspension system, electronic power steering, and stability and traction control for an excellent handling and maneuverability. An optional electronic limited-slip differential is also available with the Performance Package.
The official debut of the 2018 i30 N will take place in September at 2017 the Frankfurt Auto Show.
