Blocking ambulances and other emergency vehicles like a fire truck or a police car, will get you a humongous fine of DH1000, as per the new traffic rules.
Abu Dhabi Police advised motorists to make way to ambulances, as traffic remains the biggest obstacle for emergency service vehicles to reach an accident site. This new rule has been implemented since July 1 as part of new amendments and aims at paving way for emergency service vehicles, as saving just a minute can be the difference between life and death.
According to Head of Traffic Control department Abu Dhabi, Major Abdullah Al-Qubaisi, ideally motorists should pull alongside road, ensuring improved response time for ambulances and other emergency service vehicles. He further added that pedestrians and by standers should act responsibly in time of accident and refrain from recording and uploading the incident, as it violates privacy laws, and violators can be prosecuted in court of law.
Other driving behaviors that can land you such steep fines and penalties include eating/drinking, doing makeup while driving, littering the road and driving a noisy, polluting vehicle etc. Complete list of updated fines and penalties implemented from July 1, 2017 can be seen below.
