The Umm Al Quwain Police has cut down the speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road from 100km/h to 80km/h. A grace speed of 20km/h is still there for the convenience of motorists, which means the vehicles traveling at 100km/h won’t be fined. The limit will be applicable from August 1st 2017.
It is to be noted that this reduced speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road is applicable on curves only. On non-curved roads, it is still the same; 100km/ hour with the flexibility of 20km/hour, which means the speed of 121km/ hour is not acceptable.
The police requests all the drivers to abide by the rules and traffic laws. “The reduced speed on curves is meant to protect road users’ life and ensure their safety in view of the recent deadly traffic accidents.”
“All drivers are urged to observe speed limits, take extra care at curves and U-turns, never enter a main road without checking if it was clear, and always buckle up when driving.”
