The photos of the 2019 Ford Focus hatchback surfaced last year, however this is the first time the prototype of the upcoming 2019 Ford Focus Sedan has been caught testing.
Although the prototype was heavily disguised, we can still spot it shares some resemblance with the hatchback test mule including the narrow headlights and slanted nose. The roof and the trunk design seems redesigned as well. The spy photographer couldn’t peek inside the cabin of the Focus Sedan, but the hatchback prototype showed it extends a large infotainment display located in the center. Reports also suggest the new Ford Focus will ride on an updated platform which will be larger than the current model. This will increase the interior space as well as the trunk capacity.
The powertrain details are currently unknown, but we believe all the variants will carry a turbocharged unit. On the other hand, the Ford Focus ST hatchback will be introduced initially with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine, while the Focus RS Hatch will join the lineup later.
With the launch of 2019 Ford Focus Sedan, the automaker will compete with the likes of Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Subaru Impreza, Chevrolet Cruz, Toyota Corolla and VW GOLF/Jetta.
More details will be disclosed in the coming months.
