Dubai Police is moving swiftly and steadily toward its ambitious yet futuristic goal of having a quarter of its force comprised of robots by 2030. After deploying the world’s first Robocop in a mall for surveillance and assistance, Dubai police is all set to employ Dubai autonomous mini patrolling cars (mini autonomous bots) at tourist sites.
The four-wheel autonomous mini cars also come with a surveilling drone, which hides away in its boot. The car is equipped with smart features and sensors like 3d mapping, facial recognition cameras, 360-degree surveillance and live video relay features. Controlled from Dubai Police’s Command Room, the dynamic duo is aimed at keeping streets safer and sharing some patrolling duties with its human counterparts.
Technology powering this unique autonomous car comes from Otsaw Digital, a technological startup based in Singapore. The car-bots are dubbed as O-R3 and can be seen in action in this demo. With zero Co2 emissions, thanks to battery powered motor, the O-R3 is capable of offering 24/7 surveillance in its deputed area.
Scheduled to be set in active line of duty by the year end, the O-R3 is among the cutest entries into Dubai’s police force, right next to BMW i3 and a rather dorky looking Robocop at Dubai Mall.
