Around two years back, we got to know that the Mercedes AMG division has teamed up with Aston Martin and this so called ‘Technical Partnership’ will result in both the companies sharing each other’s resources. And they did exactly that. Aston Martin has launched the latest DB11 and using a V8 powertrain by AMG.
The 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine powering the Aston Martin DB11 produces 503 horsepower and 513 pound-feet of torque. It will allow the DB11 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds, while the top speed will be limited to 187 mph. The regular DB11 with a V12 engine is comparatively quicker, as it achieves 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
On the other hand, the weight of the AMG V8 is 254 pounds lesser than the standard V12 engine, thus will also improve the overall handling of the new DB11.
Aston Martin used their own engine mounts, intake, exhaust system and the ECU programming. Also, the suspension system was tuned slightly for better handling and a sportier feel.
Talking about the interior amenities, both the V8 DB11 and V12 DB11 feature similar luxury equipment.
The best part is that the Aston Martin DB11 with V8 engine is cheaper than the V12 version. It starts from $198,995, whereas the V12 model costs $216,495 MSRP.
We are currently not sure when the V8 variant will arrive in the Middle East.
