UAE traffic rules are constantly updated to make roads safer and help decrease accidents, therefore criterion to get UAE driving license is not easy. Only the driver license holders from the following 36 countries can drive in the UAE.
Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States. Additionally, a few of the driving license holders will need translations or consulate letters. For instance, Canadians need letter from their Consulate in Dubai for license verification, while drivers from Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Turkey, Japan and South Korea need a translation of their driving licenses through their consulates.
Besides, from tomorrow, new driving license rules will be applicable to motorists in the UAE.
