Besides implementing the new UAE traffic laws to make roads safer and reduce fatalities, the law enforcement agency in the UAE has also introduced new rules for Dubai driving licenses, which will also take into effect from July 1st 2017. The new rules concern the issuance and renewal of driving licenses in Dubai.
The law says the lawfulness of new driving licenses in the UAE will be 2 years only for all the motorists here including nationals, GCC citizens, and people from other countries. After two years, the nationals and GCC citizens would be able to renew their licenses for 10 years, while people from other countries could renew them for 5 years only.
These new rules for Dubai driving licenses apply to motorists of age 21 and above. Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency, said, “For those aged less than 21 years, be it citizens, GCC nationals or other nationalities, the initial validity of the driver license issued, replaced or renewed shall be one year as currently applied.”
“RTA is always keen to comply with the Federal and Ministerial Laws governing the issuance, renewal or age limits related to driver licenses out of its keenness to serve the public interest and realize its vision of providing Safe and Smooth Transport for All,” he added.
