The new-generation 2018 Volkswagen Polo has been unveiled by the automaker on Friday, ahead of its official debut later this year at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
Underpinning the 2018 Volkswagen Polo is a shortened version of the Volkswagen’s MQB platform, which is also present in the all new Seat Ibiza. Compared to the outgoing Polo, the 2018 model has grown in size with a 3.7 inch longer wheelbase, 2.7-inch increased width and an overall length of 159 inches. The trunk space has also been increased by 25 percent.
The base model of 2018 Polo will be powered by a 1.0L engine producing 65 horsepower, while a new 1.0-liter gasoline unit with cylinder deactivation technology spitting out 150 horsepower will also be available. Diesel engine options will also be offered.
Along with the regular 2018 Volkswagen Polo, the automaker has also revealed the sportier GTI version, which will carry a turbocharged in-line 4 cylinder engine developing up to 197 horsepower. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, though customers can also opt for a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission system.
Standard features on the Polo GTI include sporty 17-inch wheels, enhanced front and rear bumpers and additional equipment on the inside.
We cannot confirm right now about the 2018 Volkswagen Polo’s UAE debut.
