The 2019 Ford Ranger is on the cards, as we spotted its prototype in Australia with the front fascia lightly disguised.

Underpinning the new Ford Ranger will be a T6 Platform, which is also present in the current Ranger. The spy photographer reported that 2019 Ford Ranger sounded like it was carrying a twin-turbocharged V-6 gasoline engine, but that’s just a guess. The existing Ranger gives us 2 diesel engine options including a 2.2-liter inline-4 cylinder producing 158 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft of torque, and a 3.2-liter inline-6-cylinder unit with 197 horsepower and 346 lb.-ft of torque.

In terms of design, the new Ranger seems to include flared wheel arches, increased overall height, enhanced tires and a shortened front bumper.

Back in 2015, we got to know that Ford trademarked the “Ranger FX4” and “Ranger Raptor” nameplates in Australia, thus it is a possibility the new vehicle would be called the ‘Ranger Raptor’.

Ford is also developing the new Bronco mid-size SUV alongside the Ranger pickup, and the two vehicles might share some mechanical components with each other.

The expected debut date for the new Ford Ranger is currently unknown, as we hope to get more details in the coming months.
