UAE Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maaktoum inaugurated a high-tech enterprise command center for Road and Transport Authority last Monday.
The Enterprise Command Center (EC3), will serve as the central hub of command and control for all mass transit initiatives in Dubai including public trams, buses, taxis, marine transit, Metro and traffic control systems. Built at a cost of Dh335m, the EC3 is capable of machine learning, 3D mapping, emergency planning, crowd management and is also equipped with artificial intelligence features.
A pivotal part of Dubai’s Smart City Initiative, the unified command center is the first major project completed toward Expo 2020.
Dubai is expecting 3.5 billion trips from visitors around the globe by 2020, and the EC3 will massively assist in traffic management and avoiding congestion on roads.
With a covered area of 6996 sq-meters, the EC3 can render live feed from 11,000 surveillance cameras and 34 connected systems. The EC3 building comprises of auditoriums, press halls, offices and the central command room, which covers an area of 430 sq-meters. Whole structure is environment friendly and conforms to green building codes.
Apart from helping the government in managing Expo 2020, the EC3 will also provide smart traffic information through RTA apps to residents.
