His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE has instructed RTA to pay Dh33.29 million bonus money to Dubai taxi plate owners whose number plates are being used by the Dubai Taxi Corporation and Taxi Franchise firms. The decision exemplifies his eagerness to deliver decent living to all members of the society.
By the mid-90s, taxi number plates were owned by private Emirati nationals, which were given to the Dubai Taxi Corporation. This decision was subject to paying annual bonuses to the owners. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will be carrying out this distribution from this week.
Dubai taxi plate owners will get the bonuses for 2016, which would help them manage the living cost and improve their social conditions.
“It concurs with the Year of Giving and the soon approaching holy month of Ramadan,” said Mattar Al Tayer, the RTA’s chairman and director-general.
“It also illustrates the focus on providing a good living to all members of the community, and articulates the prevailing social solidarity concepts among individuals.”
