While it’s true, Dubai government is trying its best to make roads safer by implementing stricter laws, they are not here to make things difficult for motorists. Recently, a local newspaper reported that drinking tea while driving is a punishable offense with Dh800 fine, which was actually wrong. Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Assistant Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, and Director of Federal Traffic Council denied this report.

“It is not a true news. Unlike using mobile phones, drinking and eating while driving is not prohibited,” Maj-Gen Al Zafein said.

With that said, it is advisable not to eat or drink taking your eyes off the road. Distracted driving has been a major cause of accidents not only in the UAE but also around the world.
