The Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center has revised Abu Dhabi Taxi fare and fixed the minimum fare at Dh12. Though the move has been made to improve the quality of services, but increased fares might not be convenient for most of the workers who have to travel daily for their work. Most of them voiced their concerns about it.
The flag-down rate has been bumped from Dh3.5 to Dh5 for day commutes (between 6am and 10pm), while for other timings it will remain at Dh5.5, which is an increase of Dh1.5. Additionally, day and night commutes will cost Dh1.83 per kilometer.
Taxi bookings will cost travelers Dh4 now in the day and Dh5 in the evening – a dirham increase for both. On the other hand, the waiting time charge per minute would be 50 fils for the entire day.
Mohammad Darwish Al Qamzi, general manager, Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Center, stated, “Despite the hike, taxi fare in Abu Dhabi emirate remains the lowest when compared to top cosmopolitan cities.”
