There are four minor traffic violations that will let you get away with the confiscation. Furthermore, vehicles that are currently confiscated and have completed their period in the yard will be returned to their owners after inspecting their previous traffic records.
Vehicles seized because of expired car registration, faulty tire, driving license validity and expired insurance will be released. Drivers with minor traffic violations can go to the General Directorate in Deira or Bur Dubai and get their confiscated vehicles back.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai made this decision a few days back and it was implemented on 24 April, Monday.
According to Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Dubai Police Assistant Commander-in-Chief for operations, both the confiscation of the driver’s vehicle and the release of currently impounded cars depend on the safety record of the motorist and the final decision of traffic department.
Drivers committing dangerous traffic violations such as jumping lights, illegal racing, exceeding speed limit and reckless driving will not be exempted from vehicle confiscation. The sole purpose of vehicle seizure is to ensure the safety of all the road users, added Al Zafeen.
It is to be noted that the minor traffic violation rule applies to only those vehicles which are registered in Dubai.
